Heat Recovery Ventilation Kits

Many suppliers of heat recovery ventilation systems prefer to supply kits for others to install. This will lead to noisy systems and “cross talk”. Cross talk is when the conversation in one room is conveyed to another room via the ducting. The installation of a quiet HRV system is a skilled job. This is demonstrated by the fact that even the professional installers get it wrong on some occasions.
When a system is noisy it will be switched off. The client should buy an installed system which is professionally balanced and fully commissioned. Building Control is now requiring commissioning certificates. (I have had a commissioning certificate which very clearly was not created in the client’s house).

Why should the client buy an installed system?
• Installing a very quiet, efficient, effective HRV system requires skilled experienced technicians.
• When the house build is complete major changes to the HRV are very difficult and expensive.
• All responsibility for a very quiet system which ventilates properly is with the supplier – installer.
