In a domestic or small generating situations a wind turbine gives poor payback. The creation of electric does not coincide with the time of usage.

• In Ireland, on most sites, the wind will only be sufficient to run them 35% of the time
• Maintenance requirements are high
• Location close to a house or office can cause noise and disturbance

Improved designs are coming but this is unlikely to overcome all the problems.
