Ciaran McGlinchey and Edel Quinn were building a new house on an outlying family farm near Greencastle, Omagh, Co. Tyrone in preparation for marriage. They wanted to ensure the house was very energy efficient and comfortable but were confused by so much conflicting information from competing suppliers. Edel’s brother suggested she should talk to Reinco, a completely independent renewables and insulation specialist. As with any young couple budget was limited but the objective was to get the maximum for the available budget. After a chat on the phone Edel booked a consultation.

Eric Davidson of Reinco looked at the site on the edge of the farmyard. Then Eric, Ciaran and Edel spent almost three hours discussing insulation, airtightness, ventilation, windows, doors, heat delivery systems, primary heating systems, various renewables – everything that pertains to a very efficient house. Since Ciaran’s background is a tradesman each suggestion was debated. Three days later a Reinco Report was e-mailed to Edel.

Over the next year and a half there were many emails and phone calls checking specifications, products and suitable installers. The only cost was a one off payment of £475* due at the end of the consultation.

The final outcome of all this preparation is a very comfortable 2600 sq ft house which is being heated very economically.
